Mayela Bauhs

Counselor, Bear Branch Elementary School

Thank you so much for bringing The Dogs of Character to Bear Branch Elementary.  Our students and staff absolutely loved your presentation and meeting your wonderful dogs!  I believe that children learn about compassion through animals.  Dogs in particular are so expressive and relate so well to everyone.  Your message of being an important person really resonates with me.  So many times children do not know that they are valuable and have the power to make change.  I know that by telling Zoe and Suki's story our students will be encouraged to stand up for those who are perceived to have little power.  This truly is a message that will change lives.

Dottie Lawrence

Counselor, River Oaks Elementary, Houston ISD

As an International Baccalaureate school, character traits are embedded in our daily classroom activities and in the example our faculty and staff strive to set for our students. The Dogs of Character program is a perfect fit for our school because the dogs and the people who rescue them are living examples of what it means to exhibit respect, empathy, caring, and open-mindedness. Our students loved the presentation, and it raised their awareness  of ways to demonstrate character by taking action in the community.

Jill Bowers

Counselor, Wooden Elementary, Red Oak ISD

I can't thank you enough for coming to Wooden Elementary. It has been a week and the kids are still talking about the dogs. It was so much fun to see our special needs students interacting with the dogs. There was a real connection there. I almost cried when our little student with epilepsy and Suki locked eyes.  Suki seemed to think, 'There is someone like me.' Even now it gives me teary eyes. On the assembly itself, I honestly cannot think of a better way for children to learn empathy and compassion than through animals that have been mistreated and rescued. Kids and animals have a natural connection of innocence and trust and can relate to each other in a special way. I wish EVERY school could see this assembly. Thank you so very much. This program is exactly what we need to help children understand how to be good and caring people.

Dogs of Character deserves an A-plus for approaching the bullying issue from the angle of self-empowerment and for using these remarkable rescued dogs to communicate the message to kids in such a concrete way.

Dogs of Character is an amazing program! The dogs brought out a side in our children with disabilities we have never seen before. Our teachers and parents agree that we want this program for our kids and we would recommend it to any schools.
